Default I upgraded Windows ME to Windows XP and lost my desktop files

Robert,

The documents are not lost. Do the following:

1. Double-click the "My Computer" icon

2. Double-click drive C:

3. Double-click on the "Documents and Settings" folder

4. Locate a folder called "Default user". If you can not
see it that is because your view setting needs to be
adjusted to view hidden and system files. To enable this
view click on "Tools and choose Folder Options". The
Folder Options dialog box will appear. Click on the View
tab and select the bullet adjacent to "Show Hidden files
and folders"

5. Now you should be in the Desktop folder under Default
user. In this folder look for a subfolder call "Desktop"
Your data should be in here.

Good luck,

Ed

What happened to all the files I had on my desktop when I
upgraded my operating system from Windows ME to Windows
XP. Did they get erased? My hard drive appears to have
abount the same amount of information in it after the
upgrade.

I would sure like to get this stuff back. I didn't know
it would just go away.

thanks,

Robert
