How do you 'stack' a series of music videos to play?

when you play a 'normal' video the poor little speaker cones land on
my desk.

And worse, inside one video can't hear, then applause is so loud the
volume 'moves you across the room, like that ad. Is there anyway to
edit a .flv adjusting the volumes to the same levels, cutting out the
applause, or simply cutting out non singing material before and after
a performance. Anybody who has downloaded an X Factor video knows what
I'm talking about..

PS: I use google for access to usenet groups, and for the third time
google in its wisdom suddenly asked me for my password as I posted the
response, throwing any laboriously prepared response away! Yet, I can
stay logged in to google for days and days, It's just the timing of
the question is incredibly damaging.

Just obtain v2.05 use it and play with it. *Yes you can change the volume,
resize the display, associate or not specific file types, etc.

It is a versitile and capable software. *Let's not get off track in what can
it do etc.

PS: *Drop Google Groups, it is crap. *It is the major source of crap posts
and spam and thus many in Usenet space summarily killfile all Google
Groupers. *Use a News Client via a News Server.

You can get answers to any questions you may have about eternal-
september from their own support groups:

eternal-september.support

and

eternal-september.newusers

I suspect your problem is that you need to sign on with authentication,
using the username you chose and the password assigned in the email
message you received at signup. If you don't, you will only see the few
support groups.

The presentation of the messages a function your newsreader program.
Eternal-september is only the news server, and has nothing at all to do
with how the messages look.

Then you're doing something wrong. Pont your browser at
www.eternal-september.org, that will tell you how to get an account.
Then get a newsreader (www.mozilla.org/thunderbird,
www.forteinc.com/agent, and others), set it up, plug in the eternal
september data, and you'll be set.

Yes. Just install it and play with it.
And get rid of google groups.
Most of us killfile googlegroupers, including me sometimes.

"news.individual.net." I don't have the "request
authentication" ticked as you do. Why do you have that
selected?

I also use T-Bird (later version) but I use "news.individual.net." I
don't have the "request authentication" ticked as you do. Why do you
have that selected?

Request Authentication, is for NSPs that have a username and password
to gain access to the news server. E-S uses authentication.

What I find interesting, is the protocol isn't "automatic" on Thunderbird.
And that it requires the user to guess at what kind of account it is.

For example, AIOE doesn't use accounts, and so the
Request Authentication is not ticked for the AIOE session in
the same Thunderbird. Anyone can use AIOE.

It's curious, how the other USENET clients, avoid this detail.
I don't remember tick boxes for other clients being mentioned
by anyone.

Maybe it's the fact that E-S is "dual mode", and supports
both authenticated and non-authenticated sessions ? On
the E-S server, you have access to some *.support groups
if you don't use a username/password. So if you wanted
to access the server that way, you clear the tick box.
When you want access to all the groups, you fill in the
tick box, and then T-bird prompts for the username and
password to use (and has options to remember them).

I use individual.net, too, and I DO have the authentication option
checked. I can't imagine that it would work without it, because they DO
require ID/password authentication in order to retrieve News. Also,
their setup instructions for Thunderbird specify that that option be
used.

No, it's unchecked ... and if this post gets through,
that'll confirm it's not required . Also, I see your link

I just tried it with that option turned off, and like you I was able to
connect and retrieve messages. I still don't understand it. I thought
the option was to tell Tbird to feed the ID and password to the server
when asked, but apparently it does something different, and the
credentials exchange happens anyway. Curious...

I also find that I can turn off that option for eternal-september and
still operate. Maybe it's that you need to turn that option on once for
Tbird to capture the credentials, then after that it will work with the
option off.

I'll turn it back on anyway, since that's their recommendations, but it
seems to work either way.

I'm curious. See Paul's post on the dual-mode scenario for
E-S. When you turn off E-S credentials, do you lose access
to some groups? Or do you maintain full access?

Separately, I recall inadvertently losing the T-Bird
password manager settings while using an older version of
CCleaner. They had combined Mozilla applications in one
checkbox [sensibly, they split them apart in later
versions]. NIN complained every time until I sorted it out.
After I fixed that, it worked fine. I did not have to
re-run the credentials feature, though, even in that scenario.
