Default Is KB4057400 safe to install?

I just got this optional update pushed from MS and wonder if anybody
here has installed it on a PC with AMD CPU and how it worked out.
Supposedly it fixes the problem caused earlier by KB4056894.

As recently discussed in another thread in this newsgroup, that is a
"preview" release, which I never touch. I characterize previews as
being released so that Microsoft can see the users' experience with
them, effectively making the users part of the test team. Having
retired after 30+ years as a tester of software used to operate space
satellites for the military, I prefer not to be an unpaid tester for
Microsoft. Updates for these two will be rereleased later, not as
"preview" updates and possibly revised.

Thanks. Now I wish I knew how to hide it like I was able to hide
undesirable patches in Win XP.

Select the update. Right-click. Select "Hide update" in the context
menu.

It would need a new name, stating it was no longer
"half-baked". So why not give it a new number :-)

Haven't you seen

Jan
Feb (Preview)

and then next month, it is

Feb
Mar (Preview)

The Feb (Preview) becomes just Feb, and any minor
bugs, plus rushed-in, untested additions, become
Feb. Ready to brick more machines, or whatever.
Then AskWoody will alter the DefCon level on his
web site. And then we move on to the next month.

The KB number applies to the problem or "enhancement" being implemented,
not to the update itself. Thus, the KB number does not change.

Another thanks! It worked. I had no idea about that context menu.

How would I know if I need it or not? Most patches are preventive in nature.

I cannot answer you. Use the Force... I meant your instinct.

The easiest way is to use your brain and common sense; assuming it is
still common with people these days. Probably not
