Default Odd copying behaviour

So every once and awhile I notice a copy of a file I send to a 2nd pc
gets trucated, usually largeer "avi" files.

I finally noticed when it happens.

I start copying an "avi" file to the remote pc and then while that was
happening (gb+ file so it takes some time) I also copied the same file
to a local external hard disk. The local external copy finished first
BUT when it did both copying routines terminated leaving the remote file
truncated!!!

That shouldn't happen!!!

(The expression is usually "once in a while", by the way.)

Does it happen with smaller files (say, ones that still take an
appreciable time, say a few hundred MB - or is your hardware too fast!)?

Can you open your mind without it falling out?

I can't answer that ... yet. Given first time I noticed "why" file isn't
as it should be so I'll have to experiment and see if it happens all the
time. That said, too small a file and there's not enough time to start
the 2nd copy. Only 100Mps routers/switches involved so not that fast

Check the System Event logs. If it doesn't show any error log during the
file copy, it could be malware pproblem. Otherwise, it could be malware or
hardware problem - depending on the cause of the error.
