Default block yahoo messenger using windows xp sp2 firewall

hi all,

i would like to know if there is any way to block yahoo messenger using
windows xp sp2 firewall or using any other method without using a third party
firewall software.

Open the windows firewall, select the exceptions tab, uncheck yahoo
messenger.

Why have it installed on your computer if you aren't going to use it?
And why block it, when you can just unistall it, and never have a
problem from it from then on.

That will prevent some of Yahoo's features from working, but it won't
prevent Yahoo Messenger from connecting out and people from chatting.
