I have Win 2000 on the server and Win Xp networked. I can print from the Win 2000, but not from the XP. I have downloaded the new driver but it never recognizes the ports, so i manually choose yet still can't print. Any suggestions?

Where is the printer? On the server? On the workstation? Is this the
Windows 2000 Server family or just a Windows2000 Professional that you are
trying to use as a server? Which make and model of printer and how is it
connected to the PC?

More info needed.

If the printer is networked, then from the Windows XP machine try adding a
new TCP/IP port with the printers IP address.

1) Open Printers and Faxes. Start-Printers and Faxes
2) Select Add New Printer from the tasks on the left side
3) Select Local printer and deselect "Automatically detect and install my
Plug and Play printer", hit next
4) On the Select a Printer Port page, select "Create a New Port"
5) Select "Standard TCP/IP Port"-Next
6) In the Printer Name or IP Address, enter the IP address of the printer.
If you don't know this, you can usually print a configuration page directly
from your printer that will tell you the IP address. Check your printer
manual on how to print a configuration page.
7) Then point it to your new driver and it should be good to go..
