Shared Printer Problem
I have a printer connected to a Windows XP Pro machine.
The printer is shared, and this share seems to work fine with any other computer on our network, including other machines running XP Pro. I just bought a new computer running XP Pro, and it is unable to see the share printed when browsing for printers. If I enter the share name manually it asks me for a valid username and password. This does not happen when connecting from any other machine. BTW, our network OS is SBS 4.5 if that matters. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Thanks, Keith |

Shared Printer Problem
To access a shared resource on an XP computer from a second computer, you
have to use a user account and password known on the first computer, or if the user account is a Domain user account, the user account must be a member of a group that is permitted to use the shared printer. If you logon at this new computer with the same user account and password that you use on one of the computers that can print to the shared printer, can that user print? -- Bruce Sanderson MVP It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
