Default CD won't read CD-RW written on a W-98 system any more

This regards moving data from a W-98 system to a W-XP
system, using CD-RW's.

1- I have moved data from several CD-RW's written on a
W-98 system to another W-XP system successfully- testing
for compatibility.

2- I installed an app, it worked OK. I de-installed it
(Add/Remove programs).

3- Shut the system down. Came back later, re-booted.
Now, the W-XP system's CD-ROM reader detects the
W-98 CD-RWs as blank; it has no scratches, is clean,
etc.). The W-98 system shows data on the CD. This same
CD-RW has been successfully read numerous times by the W-
XP system. Pre-recorded product CD's (Adobe Photoshop,
for example) still are readable and work just fine.

4- There is now an "_Restore" directory on my hard drive
(yes, I was experimenting with Backup). The files a
DISKCFG.DAT
SRDISKID.DAT
VxDMON.DAT
VxDMON.CFG

5- I cannot find these files using Windows-
Explorer "Search" anywhere on my system (I have
"search hidden files and folders" checked).

Are these files being in the "_Restore" directory and

apparently nowhere else on the 'C' drive related to my CD-
RW reading problem?

If so, to what folder do I relocate these files?

Thank You!
