"delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer
"Joey from NY" wrote in message ... On Sun, 10 Apr 2011 10:59:17 -0400, Karen F wrote (in article ): When I am in windows explorer and want to delete a file from a certain folder, I have no "delete" button across the top tool bar. I have organize, share with, burn and new folder but no "delete." I know I can right click to delete the file but I am use to the delete selection on the top tool bar. How can I add this? Thanks. I don't know of any way to add it, but it's been moved to the "Organize" drop-down menu. IMHO it's easier to right-click and delete from there. Not for everyone. It's just another annoyance in W-7 that wasn't in W98, W98SE, XP or Vista. Why would MS remove something everyone who uses folders uses? -- Joey from NY Remember: It is To Laugh |

"delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer
"James Silverton" wrote in message ... I don't delete a lot of files but I use the mouse right-handed and I could wish the DEL key were more convenient to my left hand since I'm just not used to hitting the DEL key with it. However, that's how I work. It's how a lot of people work. Maybe if someone from MS reads these newsgroups they'll suggest to the powers that be at MS to add back the things taken away in W-7. -- James Silverton, Potomac I'm "not" |

Karen You cannot add it and there never was a delete button in\on Windows Explorer Toolbar. If you mean there was never a delete button in Windows 7's version of Windows Explorer, then fine, but in previous versions of Windows from 95 to XP there has always been a delete button in Windows Explorer. Not sure about Vista as I don't have a Vista system around to look at. Vista doesn't have the Delete button either. As for not being able to add it, that's one of the things ClassicShell does. Someone else already posted the link in this thread. -- Char Jackson |

"delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer
"Bob I" wrote in message ... You will find Delete under Organize, File, and the Context menu (right click on selection), as well as using the Delete key. If you must have it directly located on the "tool bar" you will need a replacement for Windows Explorer. And where would someone get the replacement? |

You do make things dificult for yourself, don't you? Ever tried Ctl-click for selecting a number of non-sequential files or Ctl Click for selecting a group of sequential files (and you can use a combination of both at the same time) then pressing the delete key to delete ALL of the selected files ? |

Did you mean Ctl-click for multiple non-sequential files and SHIFT-click for a block of sequential files? :-) What I've always liked about multi-select is that you can mix and match as many Ctrl-Click and Shift-Click operations as you need, all within the same selection operation. I've watched people go down a list of files and do a Click + Shift-Click sequence to select a group of files, then do something with them such as copy-move-delete, then go back and do the same with another group of files, and so on, and then they'll go back and use Ctrl-Click to select some non-contiguous files and do something with them. It's quicker and more efficient to use all of the Shift-Click and Ctrl-Click operations all at once by changing the second and subsequent Shift-Click operations into Ctrl-Shift-Click operations. That allows a person to select a block, select some individuals, select another block, maybe another block farther down, some more individuals, etc. -- Char Jackson |
