Default Share Printer Securely on LAN & not on High-Speed Internet

Hey,

Just install a firewall on all stations and block=20
incomming transportation on Port 138-139 (NetBios).
Or, Take on of the computers, Install two NICs on it.
One connected to the Cable Modem and the other to a HUB=20
which all the other computers on the local network will be=20
connected to.
Then just configure that computer to share it's Internet=20
connection. Don't forget to Install a firewall on it that=20
supports networking (such as Norton Internet Security=20
Professional).

Now you can share files, printers and whatever on the=20
local network.

How do I share my printer on my LAN but protect my=20

computer from hackers on a high-speed connection?

I am running Windows XP with SP1 and cannot keep the=20

security settings unchecked for sharing the printer on my=20
LAN.
How would I set this up? I just want my LAN computers to=20

have full access to my system & printer and each have=20
access to each others.
I have 4 computers set up on my LAN and also always-on=20

Comcast High-Speed internet with a Linksys Cable Modem and=20
also a Linksys BEFSR41 EtherFast=C2=AE Cable/DSL Router with 4-
Port Switch. No wireless ethernet here. My printer is a=20
HP 750 USB.

Thank you for any thoughts on this.

Your router should have its own built in firewall. That is what =
protects you from outside access to your LAN. Additionally, you can =
share your printer, by itself, without enabling any file shares.
