Download the "Full" SP3 file by clicking on the link below that
will take you to the
relevant download page :

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Network Installation Package for IT
Professionals and
Developers

Cheers, Tim Meddick, Peckham, London. :-)

I did this...it downloaded just fine but during the installation I got this error message...."Service Pack 3 installation did not complete Windows XP has been partually updated and may not work properly" I then uninstalled it. Usually when it is installing the service pack 3 it goes fine then this error message pops up "Service Pack 3 setup "Access is denied" This happens after the pop up message "windsows could not load the installer for monitor. Contact your vendor for assistance."

Have you tried a driver for the new monitor?

Also, I'd suggest downloading the standalone SP3 file rather than
installing via Windows Updates, which is what it sounds like
you're doing.
"Pack" - do you mean the standalone installer for SP3 that Tim pointed you
to? And you say you tried - did you *succeed* in downloading it completely?

"Marcy" wrote: I did download it successfully and during the installation it gets
just so far and the device installer error pops up with "Windows could not load
the installer for Monitor. Contact your vendor for assistance " Message. I click that off
then it doesn't continue to install I get " Service Pack 3 setup "access is denied" and then
I get:Service Pack3 installation did not complete Windows XP has been partually updated
and may not work properly. Then I have the installation wizard uninstall it .

Were *you* installing it? Just that your sentence construction implies to me
that someone else was doing it...

Please relay the exact text of the error message.

Marcy wrote: I did this in above message just as was sent to me.
I also disable my AVG virus program so it won't interfere as per instructions
on how to download Service Pack 3

Well, why not just try? It wouldn't hurt, and it might fix (one of?) the
problems you're having. Although you seem to be mix-and-matching the
installation of Service Pack 3 with fitting a new monitor, and I for one am
a tad confused.

I just don't understand this I will probably
have to take it into the shop and have someone else try to figure it
out. I have had this monitor for 3 yrs. now it has always had the
error message but if I clicked it it just went away and I didn't
worry about it.

Yet you seem certain that your monitor doesn't need a driver? Just head to
the website of the manufacturers of your monitor, find the Support or
Downloads page (or similar), search for your particular model then look for
an XP driver for it.

Except now I can't get the service pack 3 and I am
led to believe I will need it eventually.

Try to fix one problem first - I'd suggest the monitor one. Also, research
steps to take before installing XP SP3.

Marcy wrote: I agree with you that if I could get the monitor issue fixed, I feel

there would be no problem with the Service Pack 3. I will try the site again
for AOC
and try to dowload a driver. Sorry it took so long to reply but been really
busy.
Thank you so much for your patience!
