Default Start Run list erased when rebooting

I seldom shut down my WinXP computer since it reboots slowly. However I do
after I get updates. The last two times I have rebooted, my list of
prefilled items in the Start, Run list has been wiped out completely. There
are several functions I perform from there often, so would like to stop the
list getting erased.
Has a recent Windows update caused this? If not, what else could have?
Mich

Do you have TweakUI installed on your computer? If so, take a look at this
web site for further info on the subject.

Do you have CCleaner installed, and do you have it set to run on startup?

Good luck,

No CCleaner installed, in fact nothing installed lately except a keyboard
driver.

Not, TweakUI is not on this computer.

The only item I have at that location is:
NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and a search for ClearRecentDocsOnExit found nothing in
the registry.

I have a similar issue with the Run mru's. Based on my experience it has to
do with the installation of IE8. In any case my question is - Will adding a
"ClearRecentDocsOnExit" key with a value of 0 to the registry resolve this
issue? I already have a key "NoRecentDocsHistory" with a value of 1 in
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer]
I've always had this key and it never has effected the Run mru list.

Zone Alarm has a Cache cleaner facility under Privacy settings which
cleans the Run MRU.

You can simply delete the ClearRecentDocsOnExit value.

Sorry I don't have anything else to offer. As you can gather from the
replies to your post, there is generally only two reasons for this to be
occuring on your machine.

1. A Third party System Maintenance program(like CCleaner), or others as
described he
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/runmru.htm

2. Registry Policy setting of "ClearRecentDocsOnExit ", as described he
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292504

Good luck,

Donald Anadell
