access folder after re-install

Something happened to my hard drive the other day and it wouldn't boot. So I
reinstalled windows xp. (I know...) Anyway, I did not format the drive, so
now I can see my old username folder in Documents and Settings, but when I
try to open it, it says Access Denied.
Is there any way to access that folder again?
