April 20th, 2018, FFmpeg 4.0 "Wu"

FFmpeg 4.0 "Wu", a new major release, is now available!
Some of the highlights:

Dropped support for building for Windows XP.
The minimum supported Windows version is Windows Vista.

That means something in the 3.x would work.

For example, 3.4.2 , Windows 32 , Static

FFMpeg: Downloaded and installed 3.3.1 last XP version I found.

Had ff-prompt.bat which adds the .Bin\ffmpeg.exe to the system path.

Your first Link says Win 7 forward but no version number.

The second link has 3.4.2.

Now to try it out, then your 3.4.2.

Thanks.

I tried to shave the date to as close to the release of 4.x
as I could get. The 3.4.2 would be reasonably close to the last
version of 3.x.x. It's a good thing the zeranoe site allowed
archive.org to take snapshots.

This guy** keeps them up to date. When you asked I went to the
site and noticed he built some new versions in April.

I'm still using the ones from December 2018 (which are
malware-free).
They work fine.
If you do download the new ones, check them out with
Virustotal. And give us feedback as to any bugs. I prefer to
quarantine third party builds for a month or so.
TIA

** He's a regular poster in the ffmpeg forums.

PS He has curl binaries too
