Top posting is like I am doing, when the reply to a post is placed at the
top. Now scroll down to the bottom. -- Steve C. Ray "Robyn" wrote in message ... Ok, I'll ask again and maybe get a polite reply instead of Rifleman's useless LOL? What is top posting? Greetings --
"Top-posting" is placing the reply to an earlier post at the top, as I've done. This is the default behavior of some news readers, such as Outlook Express. Some people prefer top-posting, while others prefer bottom-posting (as the term implies, placing replies _below_ the original message.) While I think the issue is largely a matter of personal taste and reading convenience, some people get quite fanatical about it, claiming years of precedence for bottom-posting as the only "proper" way to do it. It all reminds me of Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels," and the wars between the Big-Endians and the Small-Endians (iow, which end of a boiled egg should be broken first). Bruce Chambers -- Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. -- RAH "Robyn" wrote in message ... Ok, I'll ask again and maybe get a polite reply instead of Rifleman's useless LOL? What is top posting? Top posting is the default way in OE. I think it is the way it should be
done. I am "smart enough" to remember what the original post was. I have blisters on my middle finger from scrolling down to see what the reply is from those who bottom post. Sometimes, there is a 3Kb response that only has only 3 words to say. Why go through all the dribble leading up to those 3 words. I top post out of consideration to others who care to read the response, not re-read all the other thread in it's entirety. JAX "Robyn" wrote in message ... JAX To paraphrase Mr Spock "Top posting is illogical, Captain". Who answeres a question /before/ it's asked?! Or, to put it another way; imagine a PC magazine Q&A section - they don't print the questions before the answers - there'd be an outcry if they did! People who top-post are too lazy to snip, IMNSHO. And to say it's out of "consideration" is complete ********, and you know it. People have to scroll down to see what the original question was! You're just too damned lazy to snip, admit it. |

No dumbbell....can you? BTW are you following all 563? Of course not !!
Ever hear of a "Watch / Ignore filter"? Your "example" is typical ....a shoot-from-the-hip response which truly shows the utter futility of this whole thing.
