Default Corrupt User Profile

I'm getting an error in the event log that says,

The configuration registry database is corrupt.
for C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\ \UsrClass.dat

So I created a new user and copied files from C:\Users\USERNAME\ to
C:\Users\NEWUSERNAME\ as per
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...#1TC=windows-7

Now (after rebooting and verifying the new user), should I delete
C:\Users\USERNAME\?

The old corrupted profile (if it does not contain any other necessary
data) can be removed via Control Panel/User Accounts/Manage another account
- an Admin account is necessary to have the option and to accomplish
the task

Doesn't the procedure cited above take care of the necesssary data?

can be removed via Control Panel/User Accounts/Manage another account

the task

And that actually deletes all the files in the account?

Can I then create a new account using the same username as the one that
was just deleted?

Thanks.

It removes the entire profile.
I remember an old conversation in Redmond during the Vista/Win7 beta era
that if deleting a profile, reboot twice after doing so.

I'm not aware of any constraint about recreating a profile with the same
'deleted profile' username.

Just curios, since you asked in the Win8 group...was the original
profile a MSFT account profile ?

Yes.

If a MSFT account profile and the profile's PC settings are configured
to Sync with OneDrive, then upon recreation of the same MSFT account
profile the profile settings will be synced back down.

Thanks. I'm not using OneDrive (on purpose, at least!).

Use of OneDrive app or use via the log on to the MSFT account OneDrive
web UI is different than configuring a Windows 8x MSFT account's
settings to sync with OneDrive.

It might be worth a look to see how Win8x is configured...not everything
in Win8x is defaulted to 'off'

I just checked. My OneDrive is empty.

If you're alluding to my not being sure about using OneDrive or not, I
guess I must have disabled it at some point.

But "look to see how Win8x is configured" sounds like a week-long chore.
Did you have some specific things in mind?

Thanks.

That page says to copy all files except Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log and
Ntuser.ini.

I also have

NTUSER.DAT{bbed3e3b-0b41-11e3-8249-d6927d06400b}.TM.blf
NTUSER.DAT{bbed3e3b-0b41-11e3-8249-d6927d06400b}.TMContainer00000000000000000001.regt rans-ms

and

NTUSER.DAT{bbed3e3b-0b41-11e3-8249-d6927d06400b}.TMContainer00000000000000000002.regt rans-ms

Should I copy those too?

Thanks.
