Default What should go into C: partition?

In ,
steelbuttom did some thinking and
came up with these words:
Ok Ron this is for you because it seem you can't read either .. Here
what i wrote in my very FIRST post on this subject

Hi ... I like to use up to 10gb on the c drive for windows ... Its
easier to perform scan disk and disc defragment ... Everything else
goes onto my other drive which is around 150gb

Now where do you see were i said " full functioning OS and all
applications in 20 minutes "

Instead of trying to sell the product ( Image drive software ) Why
don't you read my post and if you can read you will notice I said it
takes 20minuts to reformat my other drive M which isn't where my
windows is install ... If it take you 8 hours to reinstall
everything
on your computer , then you really have problems , maybe you should
try using an external hard drive , where it takes me about 2 and a
half hours for EVERYTHING to be reinstalled , this is even after I
slipstreaming my xp pro retail version with sp2 , and yes this is a
clean install , reformat the whole system ... Wow 8 hours , you do
need help i would say ....

Whats a total waste of time is those software programs to image
your drive ,
not only is it a waste but you even get rip off for paiding such a
high price
for them ...
The price you paid for those image drive programs are almost the
same price
for an external hard drive nowadays ... Thats a waste

Ghost is 40 australia dollars. How long does it take you to earn
probably 25 us dollars? It can restore a parition in a few minutes.
For our test machine it would restore win95 in 42 seconds.

External hard drive is far better off then image drive programs

The image drive program works *with* an external drive or second
internal drive or partition.

Oh yes almost forgot , Like 20 minuts is such a big deal , Are you
so busy that you can't spare 20 minuts ?

I'd like to see you reinstall your OS in 20 minutes. I did it
recently and I would say it took 8 hours all up. Initally I got it
running in 4 but kept having to go back and reinstall or
reconfigure things I'd forgotten. Although I really don't see why
you need it
every few months. My home machine has been running XP since it came
out without the need for a reinstall.

Regards,
Michael

You seem a bit out of it. He stated that he was back with a full
install with a full functioning OS and all applications in 20
minutes. To install the OS and then individually install all the
software - 8 hours. Pretty normal with a full implemented OS and
software platform. Using imaging software - which I also use - I am
back to the desktop with everything loaded and running in 15 to 20
minutes.
In any event - it is a moot point if you are sold on your method and
others are sold on theirs. I find it hard to argue with a pig - it
only gets me dirty and the pig is happy. 8^) The last part is
only a joke - so don't get your tail feathers all twisted.

Since you seem to think you can read - Nobody ever stated you could do it in
20 minutes. What everyone is saying and you can't seem to grasp - with
imaging software - we *Can* get there in 20 minutes. Following that - we
don't need to install anything else - it is fully functional.

When people write on these forums , do you actually read what is writen ?

Do you? It takes you 2.5+ hours. It could take five minutes for the price of
$25 and be hugely more reliable. You also get the added bonus of being able
to save the state of windows. What is so difficult to understand about that?

I own ghost and I don't image. People who image are evil people who are =
so lazy.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain (or time), ignoring the =
realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

And most who image are also

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one =
requires.

especially in utilities and programs, MP3, pictures, etc.

So perhaps you'll now debate the real issue - your moral failings..

And you can get change from the 20 minutes depending on how many apps are on
the partition, the ghost's I use take from 42 seconds to something like 10
minutes (although most are fairly basic installs of the OS for testing
installs). On the other hand steelbottom's 2.5 hours is probably closer to 5
in reality.

Take 15 to 20 Gb for C since you seem to have the space. And use Ghost or any other Image program, and make regular backups of wathever you want. Use Diskeeper Pro to defrag on a regular base set to "set and forget it".
