Shortcut to "View Workgroup Computers" or "My Network Places"
How can I place a shortcut to either of these on the desktop? Neither
seem to have an option to create a shortcut on the desktop when I right click on them, nor can I drag them to the desktop. Pretty sure I did this once before but for the life of me I can't recall how. Jeff.. |

On the Desktop page, click Customize Desktop. In the list of available items to display on the desktop, place a check by Network Places. OK your way back to the desktop. -- Sharon F MS MVP - Windows Shell/User |

In addition to Sharon's advice, you can create a shortcut anywhere on the
computer to My Network Places. Use the command line shell:nethood for the shortcut. Oddly enough, it comes up with an IE icon, but you can change that. -- Doug Knox, MS-MVP Windows XP/ Windows Smart Display Win 95/98/Me/XP Tweaks and Fixes http://www.dougknox.com -------------------------------- Associate Expert ExpertZone - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone -------------------------------- Please reply only to the newsgroup so all may benefit. Thanks Sharon, works perfectly for My Network Places. So many "hidden"
tricks and tips! As I recall I also had "Workgroup" on the desktop at one time. You wouldn't by any chance know how to do that would you? Jeff... A screen will appear saying it can't do that but it will also offer to place a shortcut on the desktop. -- Sharon F MS MVP - Windows Shell/User |
