Default NTBackup has no GUI

I am using NTBackup and was successfully backup some files. However, for
whatever reason, when I tried to run NTBackup now, the hourglass cursor
appears for a short while but nothing happen. I checked the Task Manager and
found NTbackup.exe is already started and it in the Processing tab but not in
Application tab. I could not get the GUI of NTBackup started.

Is there anyone seen this problem and any suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Already restarted the computer for many times and still the same. It's kind
in a hopeless state.

Thanks.

Hi,
What's changed between the last time it was working and now? Do you get any
error messages or just the hour glass?

Thanks for the response. Basically I don't remember changing anything except
using Window Update to download patches. It's been a while since I used it
last time. I did not get any error message. The hour glass appears for few
second and then back to normal cursor. It looks like nothing happen but
ntbackup.exe appeared in the Task Manager's Processes tab. I have to remove
it manually from using Task Manager.

Hi,
Try this:
start-run sfc /scannow. You may require the windows xp installation cd for
this. After you are through with this restart your computer and try again
