Default W10 "Themes" Questions

Hi folks!

I've had Win10 (Home) for a while now, just got "Updated" to the infamous
Creators version 1703 (15063.502), and I have a question about "Themes".

Back in the Good'ol Days of Windows 3.1 and forward, when you changed a
Theme you had many choices: Colors, Sounds, Wallpaper, etc. like today,
*but* you could also change the look & style of the top/bottom/sides of the
windows themselves. (Forgive me if I can't remember their names.)
Ooh, "Title Bar" just came to me as one of 'em, duh!

Anyway, my question (finally) is this: Is there any way to change these
features now in W10?
I know that there are 3rd party solutions to this, both paid & free
versions, but does Microsoft offer this anywhere?
I've searched but came up empty, all I see are "Themes" that change the
Colors, Sounds, Wallpaper, etc. which is exactly what I *don't* want!

Thanks in advance for any comments/answers/suggestions!!

This following was still available in Win7. Don't know about win10.

- C:\Windows\System32\control.exe desktop
(or Control Panel - Personalization.
- Click on "Window Color" (at bottom).
- Click on "Advanced appearance settings".

You can click on the element you want to change or select from the
drop-down Item list (e.g., active/inactive window title, active/inactive
window border, etc). Don't know if the Win10 themes allow this config.

Yes. Look at this pictu

To get this settings window, you need to go to your settings icon and
then look for items I have boxed in my pictu

If you don't like any of the above, and I suspect you won't, then you
can do the honourable thing and blow yourself up.

Rene, our resident old man, will guide you step by step.

If you don't want to use Winaero Tweaker like Rene recommended (and I do,
too), a lot of those settings can be changed in SettingsPersonalization.
You can change sounds under Themes. You don't have to select a theme; just
change your individual sounds and save as a Sound Scheme. Background,
Desktop Icons, etc. can also be changed there. Unfortunately, the range of
changes is nowhere near as wide as it was in 3.1, 95, or other earlier
Windows versions, but there's still a lot of stuff you can screw around with
:-)

Hi VH!

Sorry to say that I cannot find the "Advanced Appearance Settings"anywhere
in my Win 10 Home, which sounds exactly like what I was looking for!

Thanks anyway for trying!

Good Guy,

Even though I appreciate your efforts, none of the settings you highlight are what I am looking for.
I am simply looking for a way to change the *shape* of each window (rounded corners, for example),
not the Sounds, or Colors, or Wallpaper, etc. which are all that seem to be covered under “Themes”.

BTW, the suggestion to “blow myself up” is not funny or appreciated, but thanks anyway.

Hi Tom!

As I just said in my reply to "Good Guy", I do not want to change any
Sounds, Colors, Wallpaper, Icons, etc. at all, I just want to change the
*shape* of the windows like rounded corners for example.

Thanks for trying, and I will check out Winaero Tweaker!

After checking, and although Wolf said he used it in Win8, looks like
Microsoft took away the advanced appearance settings wizard, as per:

http://www.askvg.com/how-to-access-a...-in-windows-8/

Someone wrote an app to provide the old wizard:

http://winaero.com/download.php?view.1822

However, they don't describe it much, there's no screenshots to see what
it looks like, and it's from a non-Microsoft source.

While they have existed ever since Microsoft introduced the theme
service, I've never used nor bothered to research into theme editors.

Hi VH,

Thanks for all the extra digging, but I have barely escaped with my sanity
with this program! I DL & installed it last night, and it *froze* an image
of my
Start Menu (where it should be) but was totally unresponsive and useless.

If that wasn't enough, all my desktop icons (I only have 4) and *all* of my
taskbar icons were *doubled* and very hard to click on. I was so frustrated
that I almost took a screenshot to post here, but I was too exhausted.

After Uninstalling it and Reinstalling it several times to 'break the
spell', I thought
the problem might be my StartIsBack++ (which I highly recommend) but that
didn't
work either. A last minute idea came to me, and it took *4* System Restores
to get
back to a point where things were finally back to normal!

So, now I'm back to the "old" version of Win 10 (1607) and I'll probably
get prompts soon to Update (again) to the Creators version 1703.

At least I have everything working again where/how it should, and I'm happy.
Thanks for letting me vent, and thanks again (as always) for all your help!
