Only if you also have it on a smart phone. Otherwise, you're SOL.

There is only a WhatsApp *companion* program [1] for Windows. That
allows you to view and compose messages on your Windows system. However
the actual *sending* and *receiving* is/must still be done by your phone
or tablet, i.e. your phone or tablet has to be on and connected to the
Internet (via Wi-Fi is fine).

The download page says that the 32 and 64-bit versions are for
'Windows 8 and higher', but since it's a rather straight-forward
program, I don't see why Windows 7 is ruled out. So I advise you just to
try it.

If the Windows program doesn't work, you can try 'WhatsApp Web' in
your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera).

FYI, I use and prefer the WhatsApp (companion) program over 'WhatsApp
Web'.

Yes, I installed whatsapp on my android phone recently. But I'd like to
control it from my laptop, for readability reasons.

I was wondering why windows7 isn't mentioned... before creating a mess on
the laptop...

That would be fine since I use Chrome. But I wasn't sure if they referred to
Chrome on the android phone...

And youre running windows7 ?

thanks,

Trying shouldn't be a problem. It might not install or it might not
work, but it shouldn't do anything 'destructive'. If it installs, but
doesn't work, just uninstall it.

If the Windows program doesn't work, you can try 'WhatsApp Web' in
your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera).

Then that - Whatsapp Web in your browser on you PC - would be your
safest option.

Oops, sorry, forgot to mention. No, I'm using Windows 8.1.

thanks,

You're very welcome.
