However the actual *sending* and *receiving* is/must still be done by your phone or tablet, i.e. your phone or tablet has to be on and connected to the Internet (via Wi-Fi is fine). The download page says that the 32 and 64-bit versions are for 'Windows 8 and higher', but since it's a rather straight-forward program, I don't see why Windows 7 is ruled out. So I advise you just to try it. If the Windows program doesn't work, you can try 'WhatsApp Web' in your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera). FYI, I use and prefer the WhatsApp (companion) program over 'WhatsApp Web'. [1] https://www.whatsapp.com/download [2] https://web.whatsapp.com |

Yes, I installed whatsapp on my android phone recently. But I'd like to control it from my laptop, for readability reasons. It might not install or it might not work, but it shouldn't do anything 'destructive'. If it installs, but doesn't work, just uninstall it. If the Windows program doesn't work, you can try 'WhatsApp Web' in your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera). That would be fine since I use Chrome. But I wasn't sure if they referred to Chrome on the android phone... Then that - Whatsapp Web in your browser on you PC - would be your safest option. FYI, I use and prefer the WhatsApp (companion) program over 'WhatsApp Web'. And youre running windows7 ? Oops, sorry, forgot to mention. No, I'm using Windows 8.1. thanks, You're very welcome. |
