Default MSGINA.dll

I removed Novell from my laptop and started to received errors for
NWGINA.dll. I read an article that says replace the GINA.dll key from
NWGina.dll to MSGINA.dll which a copy was located in C:\Windows\system32. I
did just that and now when I try to logon to my laptop I am able to get to
the login screen and type the password but after that nothing happens. My
wallpaper appears and that's it no, shortcuts, no programs, no start menu.
PLEASE HELP!

You don't need to change the GinaDLL value to MSGINA.DLL. If GinaDLL value
is not present (default), XP uses the MSGINA.DLL

The Default Windows Logon Interface May Not Appear After Installing
Third-Party Program
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302346

Important: Note that you need to delete the GinaDLL value itself, rather
than setting blank data to it.

Hi AJ,

"Logon User Interface DLL Msgina.dll failed to load" error message after you
install the MS04-003 security update:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;836683

The msgina.dll (Graphical Identification and Authentication dynamic-link
library) should be listed in C:\Windows\System32 - Application extention.

This can happen if you installed PCA, VPN Cisco Client, etc. Normally
removing any of the above, the msgina.dll is replaced.

Check here for gina.dll, ginamsi.dll, nwgina, or CSwgina.dll if either is
listed, remove it, reboot.

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\WinLogon.
In the right pane, remove the entry for (XX)Gina.DLL.

Or...

Restore the Windows XP Welcome Screen (Gina.dll) Line 45 - Right hand side
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\WinLogon.
In the right pane, remove the entry for Gina.DLL.

Or...

Remove Ginamsi.DLL - Logon Screen (Line 59)
