Can I make exceptions for UAC?
My backup script uses xxcopy.exe (multiple times) and blat.exe.
When I run it, UAC jumps up every time one of them is started. Is there any way to make UAC not do that? I have read the web site that shows how to make a shortcut for a specific application that will let that application be invoked without UAC taking notice, but I have no idea if I can incorporate that idea with two apps that are embedded in a script. Thank you. |

Thank you. You would be much better off using one of the free file synchronization apps available on the web. I use one call WinMerge. Note I only backup user files. For the system, best loaded into its own partition, I use Macrium image backup, the free version. You could also use Macrium for file backup but not with the free version. |

Run the script itself in elevated mode. If a process is started in elevated mode, any processes it spawns inherit the administrator token without requiring user intervention other than a single challenge when the script is started. Joe |
