A dozen years ago I got educated by my Aerospace Engineer daughter on
WD-40's seminal use on the fuel tanks of Atlas Missiles in the mid-50's.
The initial 'Cold War' science and formula testing was for use on
nuclear missiles. Still amazes me of the history of some aero/defense
products that evolved into different uses in the public arena (e.g.
Airbag technology had its roots in Defense technology that to increase
the penetration rate of anti-armor projectiles - full circle from
destruction to saving lives)

Swords into plowshares, and all. At times we try to do better", but
still have a robust market for new "swords". ;-)
