Pretending usenet is cool

You know that you are replying to a troll post, right? So are you and this is your second posting in this thread! ;-) I was replying to the person who responded to the troll. My first post wasn't to the troll either. I said "Another pathetic troll" in my first post. That was a statement 'about' the troll not to it. Doesn't matter. Postings you, and I, made in this thread *** started by a troll *** are keeping this discussion alive which is what a troll feeds on. I'll let you have the last word... or not (if you're smart). -- s|b |

I said "Another pathetic troll" in my first post. That was a statement 'about' the troll not to it. Nixon by his various nyms is well known here, and most people don't get their knickers in a knot over him. Nobody has their knickers in a knot. Where does that come from? Oh right, you can't see my cheerful, smiling face as I type my replies. It is common in most newsgroups to out trolls. I don't know how many times I have read 'troll alert' on Usenet. I have also heard the term 'Don't feed the troll'. If you are fond of this particular troll then by all means feed it. Most newsgroups don't welcome trolls at all. My first post was only three words "Another pathetic troll". This was just a heads up. That's it. No knicker problem here Well, it seems I got the phrase wrong anyway, so you'd be home free in either case :-) -- Gene E. Bloch (Stumbling Bloch) |

I suppose I could be called a newbie moron to those who used it from when it was invented in 1979. As for trolls, I neither care or worry about them. Windows Live Mail does not learn how to detect junk. With WLM you have to depend on the server to cut the crap! Learn? No, but if using a MSFT account to sign on to MSFT Services in WLM the Safe and Block Senders list in the MSFT Account web UI (Outlook.com) will be synced down into WLM for use on all email accounts setup in WLM. The MSFT email account used to sign on to MSFT Services in WLM does **not** have to be the default email account. -- ....winston msft mvp consumer apps |
