Nope. I just want to.

It must go back to an unhappy childhood, I suppose.

LOL! If I had you as a father, perhaps, however my old man was a man
with a big set of balls, not a pretentious little pansy like you.

But why don't you cut out the "***" and write the words out in full
English? I assume it because you know that someone would cut out your
reply. Cowardly!

LOL!

I'm no stranger to being censored. I censor my own words for the little
brats left to surf the net without parental supervision.

I am not a pansy: details of my heterosexual background can be
supplied (though not on this site).

LOL! It figures you would misunderstand me alluding to your affected
effeminate nature as meaning I'm calling you gay! Your a senile
homophobic pansy!

But if all you can do is to smear
those who object to your remarks, then you have no place in what is
called an Expert Zone for the discussions of problems involving the
resolutions of XP problems.

LOL! "Expert Zone!"

Because you promoted it in these very pages, I have seen your
polemical website. It may surprise you but I do not disagree with
many of the points you make on that site. What I do disagree with is
your immediate snarling attitude on this particular website. The
words "Up" and "Grow" leap unbidden to my lips.

This isn't a website, it just appears that way to those that use the
dumbed down web access. If you polled all of the regulars around here,
most, like around 90% in not more, would vote to ban the web interface
to this group.

"Up" yours! And "Grow" some balls, Neil. There is a very long
tradition of flaming in Newsgroups. And if you can't stand the heat,
maybe you would fare better someplace else, like an old age home.

Go and lie in a darkened room and keep taking the tablets.

Well, it's not very simple. My company runs it's own mail server, and we
aren't beholden to AOL or some other ISP. True of many, many mail servers.

Wrong. I am not a troll, in any way you choose to define that word. You
cannot find in any previous posting of mine where I have raised points merely
to be a nuisance. I just want this website, or whatever it s supposed to be
called, to be used only to solve the problems of XP users. Is that too much
to ask?

Sorry David. Your name was raised by me in the original message simply
because you were using the most amazing language in response to someone.
Kelly came to your defence and your name was only included by me because
today is the first time I have come across two contributors using immoderate
language on the same day. All I have asked is: Is this necessary? Especially
in a technical site that calls itself "Expert Zone".

My thesis amounts to this: do we respond to the queries of the afflicted
negatively or positively? My belief is that we should give a positive
response to questions if we have any knowledge to contribute. But we should
shut up if we don't.

I have only been introduced to the word "Troll" for the first time today.
Sorry, I don't fit your bill. I'm just a guy who is tired of being jerked
around by jerks. I have been called naive in this thread, and I am clearly no
expert. I just want this group to be used for the discussion of problems in
Windows XP, with no insults and no bad language. Is that too much to ask?

Many here are utter fools. Some are old and refuse to learn new tricks =
and keep giving advice suitable for the 70s. I wrote a program 10 years =
ago that did not cope with long file names. I refused to use long file =
names so wasted a lot of time before I noticed. It requires an effort to =
change, which those I refer to refuse to make.

Others are hoping for a reward from MS and will say no evil.

MS wants to own consumers, preferable every consumer. They want to =
control your interaction with the world in the hope one day they can tax =
it or sell you to other companies. MSN was originally a competing =
network with the internet (as AOL and it's forbears were). So they foist =
web interfaces on people as web interface is controllable by them where =
NNTP isn't. A month or two ago they closed down the FTP site (and it's =
been years since anything new was put up) as they prefer web access for =
downloads. This controls the consumer and also trains the consumer to =
reley on MS as their gatekeeper.

An example was MS Money. Ease of use wasn't a metric they cared about =
but how many web hits it caused on the MS site.

Four years ago most posters were dealt with quickly. Attach a small file =
to do the work. Poster reads replies, click attachment, problem solved. =
However this didn't meet MS goals of controlling consumers.

The people I was flaming are those that support such behaviour.

I'm afraid it is too much to ask. As much as you or I might want
to set such rules, the reality of the way these newsgroups work
is that there are essentially no rules.

What is, is. Your choices are to live with it the way it is, or
if you can't, killfile those who offend you. Alternatively stay

Here's a reward fo y'all. You too can be a RAAF guard. RAAF bases get
buzzed by wild balloons and only the guard can defend the base.

Thankfully Australia's enemies don't seem to have planes.

They'll just "borrow" America's planes when they feel the need!

I'm afraid it is too much to ask. As much as you or I might want
to set such rules, the reality of the way these newsgroups work
is that there are essentially no rules.

What is, is. Your choices are to live with it the way it is, or
if you can't, killfile those who offend you. Alternatively stay
away from the group entirely.

He'd have to use a newsreader in order to kill-file me like you have
Ken! ROFL!

Maybe David's confusing us with the English. American are famous for
hoofinmouth afflictions. Look at who's in the White House for crying
outloud. Bush would probably think that "polite" means "pour me a lite".

Heh.

Just had to interject my "rude reply".
