10 Sucks !
I'm staying happily with 7 .
I occasionally ask for one good reason to go to 10 and nobody has given one. Lots of good reasons NOT to go to 10 ! |

Name one good reason for staying with W-7 which is obsolete! It may be "obsolete" for some users who believe MS but W7 works perfectly. Just like DOS, Internet explorer, Lotus, dBase, and other software that has come and gone in the last 40 years If it ain't broke, don't fix it! AAMOI I've just got a job to fix a DOS application running on W7 that the user say's won't work running on W10. I suppose I'll have to get a recent W10 to test my fix before I work out a charge. Software support will end for 7 next year, which may be a blessing in disguise. XP still works fine and it has not been supported for years. And XP gets broken into less than does 7, so if history hold true, you can ignore the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) and just keep your antivirus updated (Kaspersky and ESET are good AV's). winxp does *not* still work fine, especially on recent hardware, where it won't run very well, or more likely, not at all. modern apps won't run on xp either, and they're not going to. most apps require win7 or later, with a small (and growing) number needing win10. You can also consider Mac OS and Linux. Both are technically superior to Windows, true. but have only about 1/20 of the software support. false. mac has extensive software support, on the other hand, linux does not. And you have to "learn something new". nothing significant. and if learning something new makes someone more productive, even if it takes a while, it's worth it in the long run. Linux has "Live USB" iso's you can download and try before you buy. Make sure the software you need supported runs before switching. except that linux has the least software support. most modern software simply does not exist, and the 'equivalent' titles (if they exist) are nowhere near as good. however, for specific use cases, it works well, notably servers (not desktop). And be forewarned: Mac OS is "weird for the sake of weirdness". completely false. there are obviously some differences (mostly minor), as there will be with any two products from different makers. none of them are weird for the sake of weirdness. |

All significant and important. All my programming prior to VB 6 . XP virtual machine loads in seconds and 16 bit apps run great . |
