Default Internet fails, when renewing IP lease

Hello,
I am experiencing this problem for already a month. I use HP NC 6120
notebook with XP SP3, IE8, network card Broadcom Netxtreme Gigabit Ethernet.
I connect to internet via LAN cable, directly to PC. Very often Internet
fails and I get these errors:

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address xxxxxx092A2. The
following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to
try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

The IP address lease xx.240.15.65 for the Network Card with network address
xxxxxx092A2 has been denied by the DHCP server xx.240.1.110 (The DHCP Server
sent a DHCPNACK message).

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error
was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

My ISP blames my network card. I reinstalled card drivers from HP website
for NC6120, but it helped nothing. Then I connected to the internet via other
PC and everything went OK, so there is a suspicion, problem is in my PC.
Internet fails approximately after an hour of usage and I have to restart my
PC. My ISP provides dynamic IP for 30 minutes only.
I see newer version of Broadcom's drivers for my card model.

Try to install them? Reinstall Windows? Any thoughts are appreciated.

We need more information to help. Assume this is Event ID 1003, one of
solutions could be assigning static IP and DNS instead of using DHCP. This
search result may help too.

Default Internet fails, when renewing IP lease

Dear Bob,
thank you for your answer. I use a single computer with XP SP3. Beeing not
professional in networking, I don't know how to setup TCP/IP manually to
assign IP information and then re-set it using DHCP also where to disable
spanning feature of ports. I made flushdns and registerdns - will see what
will it bring.
Best regards,
Laimonas

What type / make of router are you using? Eventhough there are still
several ISP who still will assign IP addresses to the connected PCs,
some have problems with assigning multiple IP addresses over the same,
single connection. By using a "broadband" router, you can normally
connect up to 254 "networked" devices (PCs, printers, media players)
and provide "some" protection from the Internet (with NAT.) These
routers would only get one IP address from your ISP.

Read up on how to use Internet Connection Sharing.

This problem would be easily fixed with adding a simple home broadband
router.

Dear Bob,
thank you for your answer. I use a single computer with XP SP3. Beeing not
professional in networking, I don't know how to setup TCP/IP manually to
assign IP information and then re-set it using DHCP also where to disable
spanning feature of ports. I made flushdns and registerdns - will see what
will it bring.
Best regards,
Laimonas

We need more information to help. Assume this is Event ID 1003, one of
solutions could be assigning static IP and DNS instead of using DHCP. This
search result may help too.

Hello,
I am experiencing this problem for already a month. I use HP NC 6120
notebook with XP SP3, IE8, network card Broadcom Netxtreme Gigabit
Ethernet.
I connect to internet via LAN cable, directly to PC. Very often Internet
fails and I get these errors:

Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address xxxxxx092A2. The
following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to
try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP)
server.

The IP address lease xx.240.15.65 for the Network Card with network
address
xxxxxx092A2 has been denied by the DHCP server xx.240.1.110 (The DHCP
Server
sent a DHCPNACK message).

Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFCLOC could not be found and Last Error
was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.

My ISP blames my network card. I reinstalled card drivers from HP website
for NC6120, but it helped nothing. Then I connected to the internet via
other
PC and everything went OK, so there is a suspicion, problem is in my PC.
Internet fails approximately after an hour of usage and I have to restart
my
PC. My ISP provides dynamic IP for 30 minutes only.
I see newer version of Broadcom's drivers for my card model.

Try to install them? Reinstall Windows? Any thoughts are appreciated.

What type / make of router are you using? *Eventhough there are still
several ISP who still will assign IP addresses to the connected PCs,
some have problems with assigning multiple IP addresses over the same,
single connection. *By using a "broadband" router, you can normally
connect up to 254 "networked" devices (PCs, printers, media players)
and provide "some" protection from the Internet (with NAT.) *These
routers would only get one IP address from your ISP.

Read up on how to use Internet Connection Sharing.

This problem would be easily fixed with adding a simple home broadband
router.

Default Internet fails, when renewing IP lease

Smlunatick,
I've leased Linksys router from my friend last week for 3 days and
everything went OK. Then I leased a PC, containing Vista and everything went
OK. I didn't tell it to my ISP. Now the question is that they tell my network
card is bad and who knows where is the reason and how to solve this problem?
I have a contract for 2 years with them. If my PC is wrong, then maybe I
better have to buy a router, instead of paying penalty for contract's
cancellation, but how to be sure for 100 percent this is a fault from my
side? And actually I do not need a router. How to fix this software issue?

Software issues are extremely tricky. Check on the availability of
new drivers available from the network adapter maker. Do not rely on
Windows Update.

For a small price, you could buy a separate PCI based, or USB based,
Ethernet adapter. With either of these installed, you can test to see
if your PC can connect to your ISP service.

It is sad to say but Ethernet ports can become defective in the
"hardware" but the drivers would state that it works.

Another test is to attempt to connect to someone else's service.
