Default !Bootvis says 180sec long disk init!!!

I recently installed XP Home SP1 on a fresh MAXTOR 160 Gig hard drive
(6Y160P0) and I get a horrendously long boot.

Bootvis says I spend over 160 seconds doing the disk init step ( I see no
flickering of the drive LED during this period). Any thoughts as to the
cause? Bios Setting (MSI MS-6712) maybe?

After bootup everything seems to be fine.

Update:

In the BIOS, I had the onboard IDE controller enabled for both primary
and secondary connectors and had the long boots. When I set my BIOS to
have only the primary enabled, the boot time was only 20 seconds or so
which is great. The downside is my CD-ROM was not available. I have the
HD on the master connector of the First IDE slot and the CD is the
Master on the second IDE slot.

Aside from Enabled/Disable there will be additional settings for
the ide controlers. It's not uncommon for those additional settings
to be on a completely different page/tab/sub-menu. I'd re-enable
the secondary and take a look at that stuff.
