You have failed to provide the name of the file and the path to it, as I requested almost 20 hours ago and as others have also requested. Yet during that time, you have been active in this newsgroup thread. If you continue another 6 hours without providing sufficient information for diagnosing your problem, I will mark this thread IGNORE (killfiling it). -- David E. Rename NOT

The filenames have standard characters. If I click on it and get it highlighted and copy just the name to notepad I see the same characters. Anyway, if I click on it to rename and all characters are highlighted does that not meant the name is OK per Windows ? I also used the right-click menu Rename with same results. I'm thinking right now, this will remain a mystery. Paul |

It's probably not the original name, or the new name you're trying to use, but where (and possibly what) the file _is_. Can you please tell use the full path and filename (e. g. C:\windows\blah.ext)? I'm thinking right now, this will remain a mystery. And deservedly so, in my opinion. Your earlier comment, with which I agreed enthusiastically, gave the OP a chance to supply the missing information. That the OP chose not to repair that omission marks him/her/it as not worthy of an expenditure of anyone else's time. Let him/her/it go to paid technical support, since he/she/it can't be bothered to work with the free help that people here offer to those who will meet them half way. -- Stan Brown, Oak Road Systems, Tompkins County, New York, USA http://BrownMath.com/ http://OakRoadSystems.com/ Shikata ga nai... |
