Default dvd rom

I have windows ex and have the appropriate DVD ROM installed via windows. a
check of the computer indicates all drivers to be enabled. however, i placed
a dvd into the dvd rom driver (tray) and my computer won't read it. i went
to the help program and followed the instructions for the windows media
center to facilitate playing the dvd, however, the effort was unsuccessfull.
i have not been able to correct whatever it is that needs correcting.
according to what is displayed in the help section, the computer should be
reading the dvd, which works in my son-in-law's computer at his help. it
appears all is configured well on my computer, but to have someone walk me
through the steps or if there is an obvious correction to be made and i can
be advised on what to do to watch the dvd, that would be great Thank you in
advance for whatever help you may provide. STANLEY
