I can't save files to any directries on Win XP after I installed the OS updates. The folders attributes is marked green on the read only attrib and when I clear it, it comes back and it doesn't let me save. Im login as administor, so thats not the problem. Please help.

The attribute is not the problem here. See "You Cannot View or Change
the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders"

My problem is with folders also but what I want to do is to delete some
folders. When I right click and delete, I get the following message "cannot
delete xxx: It is being used by another person or program, Close any program
that might be using the file and try again." I have closed all program in any
way related to xxx and tried again. Stil the same error message.

When I right click on properties, I see that read only is checked. I uncheck
it and then click apply. When I open it again, the read only is checked
again. Thorsten, you suggested that read only is not the problem.

I read the link that you mentioned but it seemed to say in one place that
windows explorer ignored the read ony attribute and in another place that
there is no read only attribute in the properties box. And then it tells me
to use the cmd command, which I dont really understand. I really feel
stupid. what do I do?
