Default Security Update for Windows XP (KB2686509)

I've been trying to install this update for several weeks now and each time
it simply says that the update was not installed. I've even tried
installing it in safe mode; all to no avail.

Any ideas please?

Tony

Hi Tony,
There are a few reasons for this failure, it usually has to do with
having a key or keys on your keyboard re-mapped, which creates a
Registry entry that causes this update to fail. See here for details

Thank you so much Glen. I followed the link and then downloaded the hotfix
from
http://www.vivus.net/dl/ and it worked a treat.
