Sound and graphics problems
I used to have Windows ME, under which my sound and graphics worked
perfectly. I recently upgraded to XP, and now If I am listening to music and something on the screen changes, like a new window opens or I view a visualisation in Windows Media Player the sound crackles and speeds up. If I watch visualisations full screen, however, the sound is not affected, and I can also play full screen games without sound being affected by the graphics. I have a NVidia TNT2 64MB AGP Graphics card and a Soundblaster sound card, both of which are built into the motherboard. I have 512MB of RAM, and the latest drivers for both the graphics and sound cards. The sound also does not work proplerly in Real Player or ITunes. |

Do have the the latest Drivers for your motherboard. WindowsXP does identify
the chipset but for optimal performace check the motherboard manufacture. Try to install the latest Directx. Hope this could be helpful "Louis" wrote: I used to have Windows ME, under which my sound and graphics worked perfectly. If you have an Intel based chipset, there was a recent update to the
Chipset driver package. Version 6.3.0.1007 12/16/2004. It updates core system components - in your case updated AGP. You can identify your MB chipset, by looking in Device Manager, System category. There you will find vendor specific listings such as Intel, Via, SiS, nVidia or use Everest Home Edition (Motherboard, Chipset category) which will display your Chipset & Vendor. Sound and graphics problems
I tried playing a DVD to see what would happen. It was the first time I'd
played one since I upgraded to XP. Real player couldnt play it, and now my Toshiba CD-R/DVD drive is listed in device manager as not functioning. I have downloaded drivers and ran the install program from Toshiba, but it still doesnt work. It gets worse... I went onto windows update and a new driver for the sound card was available. When I tried downloading it my PC froze completely and I had to restart. When it started up again my "Plug and Play software device enumerator" device wasnt functioning. As recommended by troubleshoot I uninstalled it, and ran teh "add new hardware wizard", which didnt find it. Now the sound isnt working at all, and I cant do anything with my XP CD because my CD drive isnt working either. "R.
