Default Error Message States I have no Sound Card Installed. I DO

I recently installed Service Pack 2 and have found it to be a major pain. My
major problem is that now when I go to play a music file or game or anything
related to sound, I get a error that states I have no Sound Card Installed

Actually More Specific. This is the Error Box Text when I attempt to play a
song in Windows Media Player....
------
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with
your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your
computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be
functioning properly.
------

I also tried to play a game and it told me I had to Sound Card Installed. So
I had to play it without sound to get it started. Its error message read...
-----
Audio System Init Failed
-----

What can I do to get my sound back?
