Default Back Up Blues

I am in the process of "trying to back up materail from my pc.
I have quite a number of small, free programs.
When opening the program, it shows the applications ( and other parts )
I have tried to save a program, uninstall it, and then try to download the
program.
Even though the appliation was saved, the programs won't install or run
Is there ANY way to solve this ?
Thanks for the help.

Your post is a bit confusing but I interpret it to mean that you saved some
program files and then tried to install the program again (not "download")
with no success. This is completely unsurprising since you can't save and
install programs that way. Programs need to be installed from the
installation media; i.e., a CD/DVD or the installable executable that you
download (not "install") from the Internet. When you want to back up these
programs, you save the installer, not what is installed on your computer.

Hello,
As stated by Malke, you cannot install a program in that fashion.
Two suggestions:
1. When you want to download a program from the internet, use the save to
drive option, not install to drive.
This way you save the setup.exe file. Double clicking this will install the
program. Then you can save the setup.exe and use at a later date if needed.
2. Create a folder for these setup.exe or .msi files and at some point burn
to a cd or flash drive for backup.

take care.

If you back up your programs on another HD (such as external HD) you can
RESTORE them but you cannot INSTALL them in that fashion.
