Does this mean the price of Office13 has been discounted?

You can't buy it but with Office365 subscription, you can use any
version you like. You can download earlier versions from Microsoft
website and use it. All you need is your Microsoft Account to activate.

I have got Office 2013 & Office 2016 on my machines but I prefer to use
Office 2016!! I use latest products whenever possible. I say machines
because with your subscription, you can install Office {Home} on 5
devices. You have to agree that is is the best value product around.

By the way the subscription is pretty cheap as well. it is £80 UKP but
Australian should be comparable. You might even get it at a special
rate if you are taking a first time subscription. I pay only £40.00.

Frankly, you should be the one who should **** off because when a
product says that it is cloud base it doesn't mean you have to use the
cloud part of it. The product is still a desktop version; You install
it like any other App but idiots like you shouldn't be using Microsoft
products because Microsoft isn't making any products for people of low
intelligence like you have just demonstrated that that is what you are.

Linux is the product you should be using because everybody with low
intelligence loves it but nobody among that group uses it for any
meaningful purpose. It could be partly because they don't have the
brains to do anything useful and partly because Linux is not designed to
do anything; It is good to talk about when you go out to parties. You
don't want to look stupid that you can't use a computer.

Actually, it's already here. As "Good Guy" said, it's installed
software. So why does it have to call home to work?
Because Microsoft want people to think of it as being
online, so they can pull off the scam of forcing people
to rent it. Adobe CS is similar. It's not cloud except in
being spyware that has to call home in order to work,
and in providing online storage. The cloud is, for the
most part, merely a marketing scam. People don't need
cloud. They need software.

Both MS and Adobe also get to collect personal/business
data in the process of their "cloud" operations, without
compensation and without permission.

But Adobe CS is also insidious in the way it works.
Non-techie people who don't know enough to make local
copies of their files -- the majority who let the program
manage file storage -- will lose all of their files if they
cancel the rental. Those files are stored, by default, on
Adobe's server. (Office 365 could be the same. I'm not
familiar with it.)

Microsoft recently announced Windows 365. I haven't
seen a full explanation of the details, but it seems to
be something like "bring your own hardware". They rent
Windows and Office, along with file storage and security
"services". It's the arrival of fullsacle rental of all computer
functionality. The amazing thing is that people are falling
for this.

In any case, can't you just filter Good Guy? He never
adds anything of value. He does add animosity and the
misinformation of shill marketing. He may even be a
Microsoft employee, using an ill-tempered style to
disguise the advertising. It certainly wouldn't be the
first time. Or maybe it's a case of Billy Gates hero
worship. (Another entity who knows how to market
himself.)

For anyone who's never seen James Plamondon's
Evangelism is War piece, this might be a very interesting
read. Plamondon was a Microsoft executive.:

http://iowa.gotthefacts.org/011607/3000/PX03096.pdf

Here's one snippet about how to use the press and
analysts:

"Analysts are people who are paid to take a stand, while always trying to
appear to be disinterested observers (since the appearance of independence
maximizes the price they can charge for selling out). Treat them as you
would treat nuclear weapons - as an important part of your arsenal, which
you want to keep out of the hands of the enemy. Bribe Hire them to produce
"studies" that "prove" that your technology is superior to the enemy's, and
that it is gaining momentum faster."

Office 2007 is the 'Vista' version that got fixed with 2010! Since you're here
in a Win10 forum.., v2007 still uses VBA6 which Win10 breaks in code that uses
ShellExecute, causing it to not work. No doubt this is intentional so if you
insist running Office on Win10 you'd be better off with a newer version!

+1

One of the original selling points of the PC was that you could do
"computing" without having to depend on being attached to a remote
main-frame or mini computer.

Email list-server groups and USENET are like having all of those

My requirements are basic and simple. 2007 is serving me well. But you
need to adjust the icon text font size in the desktop to use it in
high-resolution monitors.

However, I do own a Retail copy of Office 2010.. unopened!

Sometime, carefully read the T&C for MS programs. You don't own Windows.
You buy permission to use it...

Some of Adobe products have a grace period.

https://helpx.adobe.com/document-clo...robat-dc.html#

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-clo...loud-apps.html

They need that, because I think Adobe had a one day outage
in the past.

And CS2 ended up being "free", in that they released license
keys for it.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Creative_Suite

Whereas Creative Cloud is an entirely different animal.
Rental software available only in x64 versions. Puny
machines (AthlonXP) need not apply :-)
