Default Win 10 Bookmarks

if Win 10 is so great where are the bookmarks ?

All Windows should allow bookmarking so the deep ones that are most of
interest can be immediately brought forward whenever needed.

What do I gotta do, write my own code to do this ?
Yes, I can write that code but why should I ?

Bookmarks in Microsoft Edge? ... right on the screen/toolbar!

We await your code.

What language will you be using ?

It's a good thing you described which browsers you
want bookmarks for. It makes the question easier to
answer.

The general answer is: Look for an Export menu.

Or, write code.

And "ya know, bookmarks backups are meant to be stored
in the Cloud, where the staff at Microsoft can read them
and laugh at them". That's just to give some background
into the design choices. Set your Hoover to Extra Suck.

Nobody said Windows 10 was great. Move a few deck chairs
around, and you got a new OS.

Are you intelligent enough to write any code never mind a specific one
to "find" your bookmarks!!!!

Yes, I can write that code but why should I ?

No you don't have to because you'll only expose your stupidity. Even
Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence Machine won't be of help to people
like you.

Windows 10 require some intelligence from the user's side but looking at
your recent posts. you are a very stupid person so you better go and use
Linux. Linux doesn't require any intelligence because there is nothing
meaningful to be done on Linux. Do you know how to find Linux Newsgroups?

Strictly speaking, he didn't say anything about browser bookmarks. He
wants Win 10 bookmarks. I don't even know what that is but he claims he
can code it.

No, I look up everything.

My memory is honed for keywords. I stopped trying to
memorize whole books long ago. Try to keep a few keywords,
and bootstrap with them. That was a survival mechanism
for my work. To avoid exhaustion.

Best Regards,

Well, I was surprised to find that EdgeManage is still supported.
I thought the developer had given up on it at one point.
So I stopped there.

I don't really want to go looking through the Edge Menu.
Do you ? :-) Somebody decided that browsers still need menus,
and (obviously) a grocery list format (inverted tree) is
oh-so-much-more-sensible than a menu bar. It's just what
I want to do, descend four levels to find the Export is
still missing.

Besides, the question was not couched as a "data recovery"
exercise. I've had requests before to "rescue" some bookmarks,
and I took those more seriously. I wouldn't take the
question seriously in this thread, until the exact browser
was narrowed down.

And I actually like the idea of writing code. I think this
is the level of desperation Microsoft wants in its
customers. it's where they'll find all their future
programmers. "Well, I couldn't get my Edge Bookmarks,
unless I learned Javascript."

Well, I went off, got my mining light, my coveralls
and hard hat for underground work, and went spelunking.
MSEdge does have Export now. They were careful to not hint
at it, by labeling the menu with the good news, but
it's there.

I actually had to "read the manual" :-)

Don't you hate when that happens ?

The output file is booby-trapped two ways.

1) The filename has a hidden character in front of each date
string group. Some tools don't like that character. I edited
the filename and removed the vertical sliver in front of each
date group.

2) Internally, the file is text, but it has a three character
UTF8 BOM. In Win10, open in Wordpad and print to PDF, then
copy the content out for other uses.

The "noise" in the file is the favicon. Or at least looks like it.

This is one bookmark of the two test bookmarks in my MSEdge browser.
The BOM before the first "" did not get copied.

Bookmarks are a feature of *browsers*, not of the operating system.

Windows 10 comes with *two* browsers--Edge, and IE11. I'm too busy to
check right now, but If I remember correctly, both have bookmarks.

More important than whether Edge or IE11 have bookmarks is that there
is no requirement to use either one. As far as I'm concerned, they
are two of the worst browsers available, although IE11 is slightly
better than Edge. There are many other free Browsers you can install
and use, they all have bookmarks, and they almost all are better
choices than Edge or IE11. My recommendation is FireFox.
