There is a great deal of truth to that phrase.
Consider the number of reliable sources that have stated various dates
over the last few months.
Consider the number of dates given on the official site.

That phrase is older than Microsoft.
I have heard it for more than 30 years in various situations usually
related to confidential future events.
Also use in referring to future events with no specific public date.

It may be irritating, but is very true with many things including but
going far beyond computers.

Many of the media are reporting the same thing. But just because
you heard it on the local news doesn't mean it's official.

My guess is that this info is *probably* correct, but I'll
withhold a firm judgment until it becomes really official.

Greg;
You are in the wrong forum.
You will need to ask them directly.
This newsgroup is peer to peer and thus not officially monitored by
Microsoft.
This is not a good forum if you want official answers such as that.

Actual I wanted to know the answer from an Msft not you. (Not meant
to be rude) They are the only people who know if what Will Poole
says at the conference will be consider official or not. I never

said
it was offical.

I just hope when it is released it does not take 4 to 6 weeks to get
the cd.

Will this be considers an official announcement or not?

Since it say will Will Poole will be making the annocement in Toronto?

Greg R

Microsoft and XP supporters in this newsgroup like to use this irritating phrase:
"Those who know do not say; those who say do not know".

By the way, that date, "early August" was posted in this newsgroup on July 6th, so there
may be something to it, but OTH, it was quickly dismissed by the virtual critics in here.
Time will tell:

Kevin read the article at
http://www.winnetmag.com/Article/Art...242/43242.html

I WAS asking if this article is true or another false rumor.
One thing the article did mention is a Microsoft Senior Vice
President of the Windows Client will be making an announcement today.

I was also wanting to know if what his say well be consider an
official announcement.

Carey,
Microsoft does read these post. Mike Brannigan [MSFT] for one thing.
