two questions
I have two questions that may or may not be related.
1) why is it that one of two XP machines would be able to get thru my linksys router when using voice over wm and can only send audio out but not hear audio in? I know the other endpoint is ok, because one system works fine talking to the same destination, which precludes a problem on the other end. The problematic system is Home, using messenger5.0, while the working system is Pro using wm4.7. The router is being passed ports via either system (3 right now) by the XP Home system. I have tried to configure Network Connections/Inet Gateway, but it doesn't appear. It does show up on the Pro system. 2) why is my router sending out ARP requests for ownership of the WAN IP address from the LAN IP address of the router while messenger is being used on the XP Home system. I have never seen this before. (i.e. ARP "who owns 24.102.139.xxx from 192.168.1.1) |

two questions
For what it's worth (and I notice no one could help me with my quandries), I
found that the XP Home system had both 5.0 and 4.7 installed, but 5.0 was the one being used (and causing the problems). I uninstalled 5.0 and found that using 4.7 solves the voice problem. Go figure. So, it appears that under some circumstances, 4.7 is superior to 5.0 "Phil Mitchell" wrote in message le.rogers.com...
