Default media player 9 upgrade

I recently upgraded to media player 9 and now when I run
it I get "An internal application error has occured".
Any ideas on how to fix this problem ? Can I unistall
it ? I tried doing that from add/remove windows
componets but I can't seem to get rid of it in IE. When
ever you clock on a mpg file I get the above error

I am using XP pro with all critical patches and the
latest IE.

thanks
Jay
