Lost Dual Core use but both show up - XP Pro SP3
I did a repair install and upgraded to SP3 but have noticed the system is
now only using one core of a dual core processor. System hardware shows both, Everest shows both but a performance test shows half usual performance and BIONC software is only running one core?? System in ASUS P5K-VM with Intel E6850 (Dual core) Any suggestions, M -- |

Lost Dual Core use but both show up - XP Pro SP3
Hi M,
Check that the BIOS is recognizing the 2 processors. Get the latest drivers from Asus' webpage for your motherboard. Take a look at Devide Manager, Processors, and check that both are working without problems, try to update the drivers for them. Also in the taskbar, check that you can assign processes like Bionic to a specific processor, right buttom and Set Affinity... take a look if both appear, and if its working, you got it. Run Msconfig.exe and in Boot.ini tab, press advanced options and mark NUMPROC and set it to 2. Good luck! Luis "mettá" wrote in message ...
