Outlook Express, XP SP2 & Cell phone Difficulties
Ever since installing SP2 I can not send or receive emails via my Verizon
Cell Phone using Outlook Express; however, I can get my emails via land line with Outlook Express. Outlook express did work prior to installing SP2. Now, when I open Outlook Express and click "send and Receive" I get this error message; "Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: Mail Account', Server: 'postoffice.worldnet.att.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F". I've talked to Verizon twice without success. We've done a lot of monkeying around in Outlook Express Tools including setting up a new identity without success. One of the things they suggested is putting a "i" in front of the Server info, i.e. . That didn't work either and he finally suggested I try uninstalling SP2. I did that but that didn't help either. For some reason, again, Outlook Express works on land line but not through the cell phone. I can get the internet through the cell phone so it seems to me it has to be something in Outlook express that isn't communicating through the cell phone, or possibly SP2 has caused the problem with outlook express. I am at a lose to figure out what is going wrong and would appreciate any help. Thanks for reading. I am Rich's brother and will be relaying any suggestions to him directly via the land line. If that doesn't help, remove the connection altogether, reboot, then reinstall the connection. If that doesn't help, use http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm. Of course I presume that he has never been connected to the Internet without a firewall. Hans-Georg -- No mail, please. |
