Default Windows 7 pc's can't see my Windows 10 pc

Hi all,

We have a small LAN, with a few W7 pc's and two W10 pc's. All W7 pc's
can see the other W10 pc (pro 64b) in the network, but not mine (W10 pro
64b as well). My pc remains invisible, in spite of all my attempts to
make it show up in the network. I tried everything I could find (sharing
options, shutting down Defender, etc, but my pc is still not visible
from the other w7 pc's. The other W10 pc can see my pc in the network
though. Pings to my pc are OK.
I managed to open my shares on the other w7 pc's by creating a new icon
on their desktop, referring to my IP-address. That works.
But some applications look into the network, and there they can't find
my pc.
Even a LAN messenger I use (Winpopup from Namtuk) has problems.
Everybody can send a mesage to me, but I cannot send a message to the
other pc's. Once again, tried everything, but to no avail.
What may be wong with my pc? BTW, both W10 pc's have been installed freshly.

Has the invisible PC got the Windows 10 1803 update on it? If so, I
found this and it worked on mine when the same problem arose (amongst a
hatful of other problems caused by 1803).

..............................................
There is a service you need to set to Automatic (Delayed Start) start:

Function Discovery Resource Publication

Right click the Start button and click on Run near the bottom of the
menu that shows. Type services.msc in the Run box and press enter to
open the Services List. Scroll down until you find the Function
Discovery Resource Publication. Set it to Automatic (Delayed Start).
Then right click and start it. That PC will now show up. You need to do
this on all computers in the Network that are running April update 1803.
...............................................

If you had Homegroups set before the 1803 update, I'd have a look
through all my sharing settings to - it screwed those on mine too - in
fact I'd check them anyway.

If all seems to be going well, you obviously have no idea what is really
happening.

Thanks for your fast reply, Bob.
This solution worked for me as well. The main problems has been solved now.
But I still can't send messages with my LAN Messenger. I wilol
investigate further in this ...

BTW, have been in Tetbury some years ago. Nice place!

Fokke
