"delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer
When I am in windows explorer and want to delete a file from a certain
folder, I have no "delete" button across the top tool bar. I have organize, share with, burn and new folder but no "delete." I know I can right click to delete the file but I am use to the delete selection on the top tool bar. How can I add this? Thanks. |

I use the Win 7 Home Version and when I open Explorer and right click on a file, a menu opens up and Delete is 4th from the bottom. |

"delete" on the tool bar in Windows Explorer
You will find Delete under Organize, File, and the Context menu (right
click on selection), as well as using the Delete key. If you must have it directly located on the "tool bar" you will need a replacement for Windows Explorer. Classic Shell http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/ has two components: one that creates a "classic shell" menu (you can still access the W7 menu) and one that creates a tool bar on Windows Explorer that has the big red X. You can install either or both parts. |

Karen You cannot add it and there never was a delete button in\on Windows Explorer Toolbar. If you mean there was never a delete button in Windows 7's version of Windows Explorer, then fine, but in previous versions of Windows from 95 to XP there has always been a delete button in Windows Explorer. Not sure about Vista as I don't have a Vista system around to look at. As for not being able to add it, that's one of the things ClassicShell does. Maybe highlighting the file, then hitting the DEL key may do it. |

For me, since I'm usually using the mouse to highlight a file, it's more efficient to use the mouse again to delete the file, rather than take my hand off the mouse, tap the DEL key and then take up the mouse again. -- Joey from NY Remember: It is To Laugh |

What'cha doing with the other hand? Seriously though, what is more efficient will vary form user to user. For me, leaving the mouse where it is and hitting delete, especially if I'm doing a big clean-up can be better as it is less moving the mouse back and forth. |
