You want to make the item "immutable". Windows doesn't have an immutable as such, but as Good Guy says, you can fake it with enough effort. https://social.technet.microsoft.com...winserverfiles In addition to "Allow" type permissions, there is also "Deny". And the person in that thread, is suggesting he used "Deny" "Delete" for the top folder, to prevent it from being thrown out. Yet allowing some other level to be edited. I'm not really good enough with permissions, to help more than that :-) If someone wants to "format" the partition, your folder is a dead duck no matter what permissions are set. Same would go for Linux with its immutable. If you don't want a folder deleted, back it up or use a sync program of some sort. (A "versioning" sync program perhaps - you don't want to use a sync method which can be easily destroyed by Ransomware.) Paul |

You can use Windows Defender Security Center under Virus & Threat Protection and click on Protected Folders and enter the path to the folder. Yes Right-click Properties Security Advanced Disable Inheritance Convert Inherited Permissions Select Users Group Edit Show Advanced Permissions Remove Delete Permissions I hope you understand this. This is Windows 10 and so some intelligence is required and assumed when reading these posts!!. Good luck. This is very complicated. I don't get involved with permiossions because of evil experiences in the past. |

It's like isolating software from its home base I suppose.
