Zone Alarm problem
Add the IP address of the computer in question via Zone AlarmFirewallZones
Tab and hit the Add button down there on the lower right. That should do it! Good luck! "Blair" wrote in message ... Zone Alarm problem
Hello, Blair!
I hate to assume anything, so I'll simply ask! (smile) Do you know how to set 'Trusted' IPs? First, you need to *know* the actual IP address for each of your computers. You didn't say which version of Windows you have, but in Windows XP you go to Start Run and type: cmd [enter] That brings up the DOS window. There you need to type: ipconfig /all Write down the actual IP address. Do that on *both* (all?) networked computers. Open the Zone Alarm Control Center. (You can do this by double-clicking the Zone Alarm icon in your systray -- lower right-hand corner of your task bar.) In Zone Alarm click on Firewall (left-hand side in yellow). Then click the Zones tab. This is where you ADD 'trusted' IP addresses. On Computer One, you'd need to add the IP address for Computer Two (three, four, etc.). Then go to Computer Two and add the IP address for Computer One (three, four, etc.). Set them for 'Trusted.' When you've finished adding the IP address, then click OK. Then click on the APPLY button. By the way, you 'find' your IP address a little differently with other versions of Windows, so don't let that freak you out! Just let me know which version you have... Anyway, that should solve your problem, but let me know if you're still having problems. ==CharlieMC Zone Alarm "Blair" wrote: Since installing Zone Alarm I have been unable to contact my network PC When I tried to add the network PC to the agreed list I was prevented because it was not on the approved list. Zone Alarm problem
re the other 2 replies - if you do not know the IP address of the computer
because it changes due to you using DHCP then you can also set a range of IP's in the trusted zone to cover all IP's that you network can assign to a given computer. "Blair" wrote in message ... Zone Alarm problem
Hi Charlie,
Your reply with your instructions were great! All worked as you specified and I have Zone Alarm and the network working OK My only problem is that the indicator for being on line in the right hand tray is missing so there is no means of knowing when I am off/on line and no means of cancelling on line. Any ideas? Regards Blair "CharlieMC" wrote in message ... Hello, Blair! I hate to assume anything, so I'll simply ask! (smile) Do you know how to set 'Trusted' IPs?
