Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with Flash Player problem
I have IE 10 installed and everytime I click a video that requires Flash
Player, it downloads and installs it. I've downloaded and installed it over ten times but it still is not installed. |

One type is for ActiveX based browsers (IE). The other, for the netscape type plugins (Firefox, Seamonkey, etc). http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/...-versions.html Scroll down on that page, until you see: (Released 10/8/2013) Flash Player 11.9.900.117 (156.2 MB) Now, I check that this is the correct version, with the "test page". That's how I know I've picked the right one. Some times the correct version isn't on the archive page, and is only initially available via the regular network install method. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ When you get the ZIP file in hand, open with 7ZIP, and go to a place like: fp_11.9.900.117_archive\11_9_r900_117\ flashplayer11_9r900_117_win.exe 17MB --- netscape-like flashplayer11_9r900_117_winax.exe 17MB --- IE only Extracting the first one, it'll probably install flash in both Firefox and Seamonkey at the same time. Running the second file, will load Adobe Flash into IE. Some combinations of IE and Windows, have a built-in Flash subsystem. In which case, attempts to install Flash on your own, will likely lead to failure. Microsoft would then be pushing out updates to its built-in Flash version, as the need arises. AS far as I know, your combination, should accept the above flashplayer11_9r900_117_winax.exe installer. Try the standalone method and see if it works any better. Paul |

That's certainly another route..and perfectly acceptable especially if the current is available and one needs both Active X and Plug-in versions. For the most part, I'd be more inclined to send folks to the Distribution site for the offline installers and get both files - totaling ~ 35 MB vs. the 150+ MB archive. I've not delved into IE11 on Windows 7 yet...afaik Win8 type o/s are the only versions that Flash Player updates get pushed through Windows Updates instead of supporting manual installation using an exe/msi file. -- ...winston msft mvp consumer apps |

I installed all flash crapware as I have had problems with it on tablets and PCs. All systems running better once I removed it and now ignore the sites needing the obsolete flash. -- Socialist-statism corruption is a great idea so long as the credit is good and other people pay for it.
