Default request receipt when message displayed

I would like to request receipts to show when sent messages are
displayed/opened on the receivers account, cant seem to find out how to do
this. I have tried options etc, please help.

Greetings Trudi,

Well there really is no way to do that in Messenger. However, if someone is online and if it
can't send the message within a few minutes, you'll get a message saying so (as you probably
already know).
